Ellicott City, MD – March 24, 2025 – The Alliance of Sleep Apnea Partners (ASAP) announces the return of Sleep Apnea Education Week, April 18-26, 2025. This annual awareness campaign aims to educate the public about sleep apnea, a serious sleep disorder that affects millions of Americans and has significant implications for both individual health and public health systems.

Sleep Apnea Education Week 2025 will feature a comprehensive campaign of educational content, interactive social media engagement and online discussions. The initiative will highlight sleep apnea's far-reaching impact on patients' lives and broader societal health outcomes.

"Sleep apnea remains significantly underdiagnosed, with many people unaware they're living with a condition that affects not only their sleep quality but their overall health," said Dr. Monica Mallampalli, President & CEO. "Our goal with Sleep Apnea Education Week is to spark important conversations about sleep health and connect those experiencing symptoms with the resources and support they need."

As part of the campaign, ASAP will provide a comprehensive social media toolkit enabling patients, caregivers, healthcare providers, and partner organizations to participate in spreading awareness. Resources will include shareable graphics, educational fact sheets, personal story templates, and discussion guides.

The campaign will emphasize the #SleepApneaEducationWeek hashtag to build community engagement and encourage individuals affected by sleep apnea to share their personal experiences and insights.

Sleep apnea affects an estimated 54 million Americans, with many cases remaining undiagnosed. The condition is characterized by repeated interruptions in breathing during sleep, which can lead to fragmented sleep patterns and reduced oxygen levels. Left untreated, sleep apnea is associated with increased risks of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, depression, and impaired cognitive function.
