ASAP in SleepWorld Magazine:
Putting Patients First
The March/April 2025 issue of SleepWorld magazine has published a feature by Alliance of Sleep Apnea Partners President and CEO Monica Mallampalli, PhD, on the importance of prioritizing the patient in this new era of innovation in sleep apnea diagnostics and treatment.

Dr. Mallampalli noted that patients' desires for new and cost-effective sleep apnea treatments are driving change in the landscape, including an expanding device market that is projected to reach $10 billion by the end of the current decade. But challenges remain: awareness of obstructive sleep apnea and its serious health complications remains low, new testing and treatment can be costly and isn't always covered by insurance, and patients can be wary of novel therapies, fearing safety issues.

"Patient advocacy groups have an important role to play as a trusted partner in overcoming these challenges by bridging the two communities—industry and patients," Dr. Mallampalli wrote.
In the article, Dr. Mallampalli describes ASAP's educational initiatives and outreach initiatives and notes the importance of collaboration.

"Our mission is to make sleep apnea a national priority while ensuring that policies support and protect patients," she wrote.
